Where to eat near Biloxi, MS

Good morning my dudes.

Today I will be talking about where and what to eat in Biloxi, MS and the surrounding area.

I am somewhat of an expert on food in the area. But one thing is going to be abundantly clear from this list: I love bar food and chicken sandwiches.

With that being said, let’s get into it.

Warning: I tried to behave but there is some cussing. I got heated about Twin Peaks. So proceed at your own risk.

Restaurant #1: Moe’s Southwest Grill

My fiancé and I both get the Chicken Club Quesadilla here. It’s a quesadilla with dark meat chicken, bacon, cheese, lettuce, pico, and chipotle ranch. We both add seasoned rice to our quesadillas. And my fiancé gets his without pico because he doesn’t like tomatoes.

Another thing about Moe’s? The queso is ungodly delicious. There is an up charge for queso vs. salsa, but it’s totally worth it.

Moe’s did do us kind of dirty though recently… twice. The first time they forgot the chipotle ranch, lettuce, and pico on both of our quesadillas. And the second time we went there for redemption they were closed. Just bad luck.

But to be clear, a 1 star Moe’s experience is still a 5 star Taco Bell/Taco John’s experience. And like a 3 star Chipotle experience. Moe’s is top tier. Can’t judge them off of one or two bad encounters when I’ve ate there probably 50 times with minimal complaints.

Restaurant #2: The Yard Milkshake Bar

Next up we have a dessert location. But don’t be fooled, these milkshakes and sundaes are more than enough to compensate for an entire meal.

I have tried a variety of signature milkshakes and build-your-own milkshakes here, they are all heavenly.

More or less diabetes in a cup. Best enjoyed in moderation.

On this particular day I got the Christmas Cookie milkshake, which was a holiday secret menu special; and my fiancé got the Cereal Killer milkshake, which is a signature milkshake.

Restaurant #3: Port City Cafe

Port City Cafe is the most perfect little mom and pop’s cafe, located on Pass Road in Biloxi. Their restaurant is the cutest and the breakfast food is delicious.

My fiancé and I both get breakfast burritos which has hash browns, eggs, cheese, and a meat of choice (we both get bacon) in it. On this particular day my fiancé also got a side of hash browns and we got a 6 piece order of beignets as an appetizer. The beignets aren’t necessarily Café du Monde good, but they are still damn delicious.

Definitely a must stop for breakfast.

Unfortunately, Port City Cafe does not have a website for me to leave a link to.

Restaurant #4: Twin Peaks

Now this restaurant is a little more… risqué. Like Hooters, but with even less clothes.

So if you are on the religious/conservative/modest side of things, then this is not the establishment for you. So feel free to scroll to the next restaurant if that’s the case.

I get the same thing pretty much every time I come here. But here are some solid recommendations:

  • Mozzarella Cheese Bites for an appetizer which is half off for happy hour (Monday-Friday, 2-7).
  • Boneless Garlic Parmesan Wings for an entree (my fiancé’s entree of choice).
  • Chicken Ranch Sandwich for another entree option (my entree of choice). I personally get mine without the pico on it. And this is a top tier chicken sandwich. Like top 3 of all time.
  • Twin Peaks Sundae for a sweet snack.

They also have some damn good alcohol here. I mean, it is a bar, but the beer is served in a frosty mug below 32F. And they have some house brews that are delicious: Dirty Blonde, Dropdead Redhead, and Knotty Brunette. The Dirty Blonde is a dupe for Blue Moon.

Make sure if you go here you are aware of sporting events that are happening because that will have a direct impact on how busy the bar is.

AND BE NICE TO THE GIRLS GODDAMNIT. Tip them extra, say please and thank you, and smile at them. This is how you should treat food service workers all the damn time, but you need to be extra nice to the ones who are walking the line between food service and sex work. They are expected to look a certain way for work, are graded at the start of shifts based on appearance, and then they are given shifts and tables based on their grade and how it affects their ranking on the roster. So, yeah. Be extra nice to the girls.

Restaurant #5: Jacked Up Coffee

Okay, Jacked Up Coffee is a little bit pricey. If you’re just planning on getting coffee it isn’t bad, but if you’re getting food it adds up. But I think it’s worth every penny. They have THE BEST coffee, and their food is delicious.

The NOLA iced coffee with caramel is heaven in a mug. It’s 24 hour cold brew with whole milk and simple syrup of your choice. They have a lot of options for coffee if cold brew isn’t your thing.

For food they have some delicious sweet monkey bread. I have tried both the Reese’s and Smores ones. Both amazing. I think my fiancé has gotten the Lemon Blueberry and Apple Pie ones at some point too and he liked them. For an extra dollar you can add a scoop of ice cream to the sweet monkey bread.

For an actual entree? The Jacked Up BLT is so good. Like, an orgasm in your mouth. It’s bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, chicken strips, and fried eggs. The order comes with two sandwiches and a side of chips! So like I said earlier. Maybe a little pricey, but worth every penny.

Restaurant #6: Fill-Up with Billups

Fill-up with Billups is similar to Port City Cafe in the way that it feels like a mom and pop place. Fill-ups feels like the kind of place Dean and Sam would stop in Supernatural, ya feel?

When we went here I got the Fill Up with Billups with over medium eggs, bacon, hash browns with cheddar cheese, and a chocolate chip waffle. And my fiancé got the chicken and waffles.

Fill-ups is primarily breakfast food with lots of options for waffles and grits, but they do have some lunch/dinner options. They are also open 24 hours and conveniently located on Beach Boulevard right across from all the casinos.

Restaurant #7: Mugshots Grill and Bar

Mugshots, Moe’s, and Twin Peaks are the Biloxi Holy Trinity for my fiancé. These are the places we stop every time, usually more than once, when we’re here.

So what do we get at this wonderful restaurant?

  • Appetizer: Tee’s Cheese Wedges (mozzarella)
  • Entree #1: Hicks Chicken Filly
  • Entree #2: The Briscoe Inferno
  • Entree #3: Parmesan Chicken Marinara

I usually rotate between the Hicks Chicken Filly and the Parmesan Chicken Marinara, depending if I want a sandwich or pasta. My fiancé always gets the Briscoe Inferno. It’s pretty much his favorite chicken sandwich in existence.

A note: the fries here are some thicc boi steak fries and they are amazing.

Restaurant #8: Tony’s Brick Oven Pizzeria

I’m relatively uncultured, as you can probably tell by my previous recommendations, but I think Tony’s is real Italian food? Whether it’s authentic or not, it’s good food.

For an appetizer the both times we’ve gone we got the Fried Mozzarella which is SO GOOD. You get two different kinds of tomato sauce with it. One is rustic tomato sauce and the other is marinara sauce.

We have tried two kinds of pizza here. The first one being The Perfect Pepperoni. The more recent on being Pizza Bianca which we substituted the artichoke hearts for extra chicken.

I remember the pepperoni pizza being amazing.

I think Pizza Bianca would have been better if there was more sauce on it. It was a tad bit dry, but that’s most likely because we doubled up on the chicken.

It’s not a super fancy restaurant, but we like dressing up nice when we go here so it feels like a real date night.

Restaurant #9: Bop’s Frozen Custard

Last but certainly not least, Bop’s.

Can’t go wrong with ice cream or frozen custard.

We got vanilla concretes with caramel sauce, cookie dough, and oreos.

Unbeatable combination of flavors. Highly recommend.

Well there you have it! 9 places to eat in Biloxi, MS and what I personally get at each restaurant.

My food pallet is definitely more white trash, consisting primarily of bar food. But it’s good bar food! I would never lead you astray on food. I know my food. But if you are looking for someone who can give you recommendations on foods from many different cultures… I am not that person.

On a different note, I know most people aren’t traveling much right now. And that’s probably for the better. I’m not going to get into the science or politics of Covid-19. It’s been going on for a while, we all know the guidance by now. All I ask is, if you’re going to go out to eat or travel in these times, please be smart about it.
